you were meant to design.
Elevate your product logic. Learn the systematic approach to layout, typography, and motion choreography.
Five modules, in the order the ladder reads.
Each module owns one bar of the intro ladder. The bar widens as the work gets heavier — 18 studio hours end to end, and the last one is all state.
Where the page begins: gutters, container lines, and the four points where they cross. You will draw the frame before you draw anything inside it.
- 01.1Container lines as a first-class layer
- 01.2Gutter math: 24 / 64 and why not 32
- 01.3Intersection markers, and when they become noise
DeliverableA frame spec: two gutters, two rules, four markers.
The intro you just watched, as a timing sheet.
Five phases, 3.48 seconds, three easing families. Environment before frame, frame before content, and the colour ladder last — on the only inOutQuint in the page.
Four seats at the front of the room.
15 sessions, split across four practices. Every module ends in a critique, and the critique is where the module actually happens.
Layout systems
Grids, frames, and the argument for a container line.
Typography
Scales, tracking, and the three roles a family is allowed.
Motion
Phasing, easing families, reduced-motion drafts.

- Who is this for?
- Designers who already ship and have stopped improving by taste alone. You should be comfortable in a layout tool and impatient with your own explanations.
- Which tool do I need?
- Any. The deliverables are specs — frames, scales, timing sheets — and a spec is tool-agnostic by definition.
- Are sessions recorded?
- Lectures yes, critiques no. Nobody argues honestly on camera.
- I write the code too. Still useful?
- That is the ideal case. Module 04 ends with a timing sheet, and you get to be the engineer who receives it.
