Sixty-Four Hexagrams
A San Yuan luopan drawn from its own TikZ, line by line
A feng shui compass of the San Yuan school that draws itself and then turns its rings back into place. It opens on that moment, fifteen rings turning and locking from the rim inward, and winds back to an empty sheet. Then an orange spark reads a TikZ listing and drafts the dial from it, ring by ring: the pool and the Former Heaven trigrams with their Luo Shu numbers, the Later Heaven trigrams, the Earth plate's twenty-four mountains with their dragons and substitute stars, then Fu Xi's circle of sixty-four hexagrams — their qi numbers, their names, their images drawn line by line, three hundred and eighty-four strokes, their periods and families — then all three hundred and eighty-four lines in one ring, the twenty-eight lunar lodges in the Kaixi degrees and a full circle of degrees. Its 439 characters are set from the same numbers and appear cell by cell behind the pen. When the last ring is down every ring spins and locks back into place, the needle settles, and two red lines cross the dial and turn to read the sitting and facing, down to the hexagram and the line. Every frame is rendered live in your browser, and the score is code that reads the same plan.
